I'm a horrible blogger

Well, it's official. I'm a horrible blogger. :) I have, however, had a few things come up since March 9th when I blogged last. In the last three weeks I've had several entries run through my mind, most of them occuring while driving in the car or when I've woken up in the middle of the night. None of which I can actually remember right now. So, I'll just highlight a few positive things that have happened lately.

Just over two weeks ago a friend of mine (Charles and I sing on the praise team together, his wife is my best friend and we belong to the same bible study group) and I started a program called "Pierce County's Biggest Winner". We were chosen out of several applicants (at least 100) to participate in the program. We get a free three month membership to the YMCA, a personal trainer that we can contact at any time, a nutritionist and nutrition classes that we meet with/attend once a week and a AMAZING team of people to hold us accountable. You'll also be able to see my lovely progress too - My friend and I are on the Lakewood - blue team. :) The day the program started my awesome mom sent home with Jeff this cool box of goodies you see below. I love my mom. It's full of healthy treats and snack options. It has been a lifesaver and makes me remember my mom every time I see it sitting on the kitchen counter. :)

So, besides the above competition and all the time that is taking up (which is a LOT!) a few other things have been going on around here. Cooper is completely healed from his surgery. And the best part... HE IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!! He has been sleeping in his own bed through the entire night for the last week. I'm so excited about this that I can hardly stand it. I feel so refreshed each morning when I wake up because my sleep hasn't been interrupted! Yay Cooper!

And last, but DEFINATELY not least, Jeff is working again. He's been working now for about a week and a half. We're still catching up on the bills from when he was unemployed, but it's so nice to have him back to work again. He feels good too being back to having something to do every day! And thankfully he is working here in the area so his commute isn't horrendous either. We hope the job he's working on last for a long time! :)

So, while not a great update, it's at least something. Hopefully I'll be able to find a few minutes here and there to update this blog a little better than I have been.

We're getting better!

Thank goodness! Last Friday Cooper started eating again. By Saturday he was back to his old happy personality, eating everything in sight, and talking up a storm. It looks like he is well on his way to being normal again!

We had his post op appointment today and the dr said everything looks good. He still has some scabs in the back of his throat so the dr said that he is just a slower than average healer, but that it's nothing to worry about. We are so thankful that life is somewhat back to normal! Sleeping is getting better every night too! Yay!

Here is my happy boy doing puzzles on Saturday. And take note of the pieces put together - he found all of them and put the together with NO HELP. And this is three different puzzles mixed together. Pretty good, huh?

And in other news around our house - my husband got me a sewing machine. We'll he got financing to buy me a sewing machine. LOL But I was so in need of it. Especially trying to run a business on an old machine was really hard. Not only did he buy me a sewing machine, but he allowed me to bring down the craft table from upstairs into the family room. So now, instead of sewing on the kitchen table and having to take everything down each time we need to eat a meal (which got old really fast) I'm not able to leave all my sewing stuff set up, have everything I need out and ready to use, AND have my snap press all set up where the kids play so I can keep an eye on them. I have the best hubby. :)

Cooper ate a WHOLE bowl of Mac 'n' cheese for lunch! Yay! Maybe we are making progress after all!!!!!

I'm not sure how much longer I can take this. Cooper is a grump non-stop. I know he is in pain. I know that it isn't comfortable and that he doesn't understand why he hurts. But MAN the whining is getting to me. And the lack of sleep... ugh, I'm so done.

We went to the emergency room with Cooper yesterday (chalk up another chunk of change to our medical debts) because he was coughing up blood. This is a sight that I never want to see again. I called the drs office and the nurse was not happy with the amount of blood that was coming out so she told us to go to the ER. Turns out that it was just the scabs coming off his incisions and he was fine. They sent us home and told us to come back if it happened again. Thanks. So much.

This was dinner time a couple nights ago. Cooper refused to come to the dinner table and just wanted to lay on the couch and watch Baby Einstein. Not more than two minutes later, this is how we found him.

I'm just so tired. Not only am I physically tired from getting up every hour to tuck Cooper in again because he is screaming, but I'm emotionally tired. I can't handle the fact that he hasn't eaten in NINE days. He has only had water, apple juice and yogurt. The boys ribs are sticking out now. He doesn't want to do anything. He just sits around and whines about everything. I can't get any work done, I don't want anyone else watching him in case something happens, and I'm ignoring Kaelyn and her school work because Cooper takes up every moment of the day. It's exhausting. We better be "turning a corner" soon (which we've been told by the drs office that this SHOULD happen any day - although they've been telling us that since Friday).

Stick a fork in me... I'm done.

Cooper's Tonsillectomy

Well, we are in day 6 post-op and there is a reason that I haven't posted this entry yet. I have been CONSTANTLY (day and night) by Cooper's side - well, except for the 5 hours on Saturday that my mom relieved us from our parenting duties. :) Post-op recovery has been WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY harder than I anticipated. I knew there would be pain. I knew there would be hard moments of whining. What I didn't anticipate was CONSTANT pain, constant whining, and constant worrying on my part. Let's start with surgery day....

We got to the hospital around 9:30am and got all checked in. We had some slight issues with keeping Cooper from eating anything all morning, but thanks to the helpful hints to Kaelyn to not mention anything food related we were able to do what we needed. Cooper finally went into surgery around 11:30am. He was only in surgery about 20 minutes when the dr came out and told us that is was a REALLY good thing we took everything out because they were huge. Here are some pictures from the day

So, it's all good after that day, right? Uh - SO wrong. Tuesday wasn't too bad. He played nicely through the day, although he did take two naps. Wednesday morning wasn't so good, but after a good nap in the afternoon he had a great afternoon and evening. Thursday all went downhill. He became whiney and refused all medications. What he had been eating in the two days before he started refusing. By Friday we noticed that he was starting to come down with a cold on top of the fact that he was miserable and in pain from the surgery. Of all the days, I really think that today has been the worst. I have a feeling that the scabs are starting to come off because he has been so clingy today, pale, and really, really in pain. We took a peek at his throat this evening and it is completely white and covered in white scabs (I know - TMI). It looks HORRIBLY painful and I can't believe he is even wanting to drink anything. He has been pretty good about getting liquids into himself although I think he could use a few more. He will only eat yogurt so we're giving it to him whenever he asks for it. I've read that a lot of drs recommend against milk products, but if it's what he wants and it's the only thing he'll eat - well, then, milk products it is. He is so congested from his cold and has snot coming from his nose constantly. It can't be comfortable. I can't wait for this whole thing to be over with. I'm anticipating that today through probably Tuesday will be pretty bad. We're hoping at that point in time we hit a turning point. As for myself - I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to get my happy-go-lucky baby back. :-(
